1. HSE commitment
Fleurs will, so far as reasonably practicable and within its control, provide and maintain safe working arrangements; use competent persons for assigned work; communicate relevant hazards; protect visitors and customers; prevent pollution and unnecessary waste; and review incidents and unsafe conditions for corrective action.
This policy supports the duties and risk-control principles reflected in Trinidad and Tobago’s Occupational Safety and Health framework. It does not reduce the independent legal duties of employers, occupiers, contractors, workers, customers or building management.
2. Shared responsibilities
Fleurs
- Define and confirm the authorised scope, location and responsible contact.
- Use a reasonable competence and identity-verification process for assigned personnel.
- Communicate known hazards and coordinate appropriate controls.
- Maintain a process for reporting, escalation, stop-work and corrective action.
Workers and contractors
- Work only within competence, authority and the approved scope.
- Inspect the work area, use suitable tools and personal protective equipment, and follow safe systems of work.
- Stop and report work where conditions are unsafe or materially different from those assessed.
- Protect customers, occupants, visitors, neighbours and property.
Customers and office users
- Disclose known hazards, vulnerable occupants, access restrictions and relevant site conditions.
- Follow emergency, access and safety instructions and keep unauthorised persons away from work areas.
- Do not interfere with tools, barriers, electrical isolation or protective equipment.
3. Executive office and meeting-space controls
- Keep exits, stairs, corridors, doors and firefighting equipment unobstructed.
- Observe the confirmed occupancy limit and do not overcrowd the room.
- Report spills promptly; keep walkways clear of bags, cables and trip hazards.
- Do not overload sockets, use damaged electrical equipment or alter building services.
- No smoking, vaping, open flame, hazardous material or unauthorised hot work.
- Use furniture and display equipment as intended; do not move heavy items without approval.
- Know the nearest exit and assembly instructions. Follow building-management directions during alarms or evacuation.
- Persons requiring assistance during an emergency should inform the organiser or Fleurs in advance where practicable.
4. Controlled Home Services controls
- Confirm identity and job reference before entry. Limit access to the approved work area.
- Complete a pre-work hazard check covering electricity, water, falls, access, structural condition, weather, tools, occupants and hazardous substances.
- Isolate and verify energy or water sources before intrusive work where required.
- Use appropriate PPE, guards, ladders, barriers, ventilation and dust or debris containment.
- Keep children, pets and unauthorised persons away from tools and the work zone.
- No live electrical work, hot work, confined-space work, work at height or structural intervention unless specifically authorised, competently planned and properly controlled.
- Do not disturb suspected asbestos, unknown chemicals, unsafe wiring, unstable structures, biological contamination or other specialist hazards. Stop and escalate.
- Restore services only after checks are completed and explain relevant safe-use limitations to the customer.
5. Environmental and housekeeping controls
- Prevent uncontrolled release of paint, oil, wastewater, chemicals, debris or dust.
- Use only the quantities reasonably required and keep containers closed, labelled and secured.
- Separate and lawfully dispose of waste; do not pour prohibited material into drains or onto land.
- Minimise noise, nuisance, water use and damage to vegetation or neighbouring property.
- Leave the work area safe, orderly and free of sharp objects, exposed conductors, leaks and avoidable debris.
6. Emergency response
- Stop work and warn persons at risk.
- Call the appropriate emergency service where life, fire, violence, serious injury, electrical danger, gas, flooding or other urgent risk exists.
- Evacuate or isolate the area only where safe to do so. Do not re-enter until authorised.
- Provide first aid only within competence and available resources.
- Notify Fleurs as soon as practicable and preserve the scene where required for investigation.
7. Incident, hazard and near-miss reporting
Injury, property damage, environmental release, security event, near miss, unsafe condition or customer safety concern must be reported promptly. Fleurs will record material reports, assess immediate controls, determine whether external notification is required and identify corrective actions.
